Busan is the second biggest city in South Korea. In order to revive the economy of Busan, there are some issues that Busan must deal with to develop this area. Busan is developing a key infrastructure facilities such as Busan new port and high speed railroad as well as builing international free trade zone.
Gadeokdo, situated in Gangseo-gu region of Busan Metropolitan City, is very close to the city center, where all the urban development is on process. Since this area is in the center of the new development and it is incredibly unique place that has a plenty of natural environment, it is important to re-interpret Gadeokdo correctly.

In 1987, Nakdong River Estuary was blocked by an embankment. Since then, the development of this area was executed, and the delta area near the Gadeokdo is keep shrinking. This is threatening the ecosystem of this place. In order to restore nature to its original condition, the embankment must be destroyed which will create a new wetland from Jinwoodo to Gadeokdo. The wetland will restore the eco system and the ecological interaction will be maximized. Gadeokdo is an important last piece that connects the wetlands.

This last piece of the nature surrounded by the natural wetland is a unique place in the urban environment. The important issue is developing the area for the revival as well as preserving the natural environment and the wetland in this area. In order to attract people, our proposal is to concentrate all the development (anthropogenic gesture) at the beginning of the site and remain the other area as natural environment. This last piece of the nature surrounded by the natural wetland is a unique place in the urban environment.
