Simplex Architecture was established in New York in 2014, and relocated its office to Seoul in 2017, as a critical investigation of architecture, interior, and design to achieve a high quality design by resolving complex nature of architecture and design through collaborative process with practitioners from a variety of disciplines in the form of simplicity. The firm focuses on the deeper attributes of appropriateness, proportion, and details of architecture and seeks a natural economy of the elements in planning, building organization and circulation. The office has received numerous awards, including Korean Young Archtect Award, Seoul Architecture Award, Korean Architecture Award, and Korea Wood Construction Award. Major projects include Isabu Dokdo Museum, ANArKH Cafe & Restaurant, and Jong-Am Square.

심플렉스 건축사사무소 (Simplex Architecture) 는 2014년에 뉴욕에서 설립되었으며, 2017년 서울로 사무실을 이전하여 건축, 도시, 인테리어, 제품디자인등 다양한 분야에 관심을 갖고 합리적인 해결책을 제시하고자 한다. 건축과 디자인의 복잡한 (complex) 문제들에 대해 다양한 분야의 전문가들과 함께 단순한 (simple) 해결책을 도출해 내며, 높은 퀄리티의 디자인을 이루기 위해 이를 면밀히 탐구한다. 디자인의 기본 요소인 조화, 비율 등과 함께 건축의 근간을 이루는 구축 시스템과 디테일에 대해 연구하며, 내부 공간의 구성, 계획, 동선 등에 대한 고민을 바탕으로 그 경제 논리를 함께 탐구한다. 2022 문화체육관광부 젊은건축가상, 2022 서울시 건축상 우수상, 2022 한국건축문화대상 신진건축사 대상, 2022 대한민국 목조건축대전 최우수상 등 다수의 건축상을 수상하였으며, 주요작품으로는 이사부 독도 기념관, 리버티 라운지, 아나키아 카페 레스토랑, 종암스퀘어 등이 있다.

박정환 | Greg Park AIA, LEED AP

Principal

Greg Chung Whan Park is a principal of Simplex Architecture as well as a professor at Hongik University. He received his Master of Architecture from Harvard University in 2011 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Seoul National University. He began his professional career working at Mass Studies, where he gained experience in a wide range of projects. He continued his career at SANAA, SOM, Richard Meier & Partners and Asymptote Architecture, leading the design effort on Seamarq Hotel, Vitrvm Residential Towers, and ZIL Tower as a Project Architect. He is a registered architect in New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects, a LEED accredited professional, and Public Architect of Seoul Metropolitan Government.

박정환은 심플렉스 건축사사무소의 대표이자 홍익대학교 건축도시대학 교수로서 건축, 도시, 인테리어 등 폭넓은 작업을 진행하고 있다. 서울대학교와 하버드 건축대학원에서 건축을 공부했으며, 매스스터디스와 SANAA, SOM에서 실무 경험을 쌓고 Richard Meier & Partners와 Asymptote Architecture 에서 Seamarq Hotel, Vitrvm, ZIL Tower등의 Project Architect로서 활동하였다. 그는 미국 건축사이며 LEED AP이고, 서울시 공공건축가이다.

Sanghun Song is a principal of Simplex Architecture. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from University of Seoul. He has held primary roles on a wide range of projects including Pangyo Nature Center, Crystal County Club House in various firms in Seoul, Korea, as a Project Architect. He is interested in a wide range of design field including Urban Design, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture. He is a registered architect in Korea, and a member of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects.

송상헌은 심플렉스 건축사사무소의 대표로 서울시립대학교에서 건축을 공부했으며, 서울소재의 여러 건축사사무소를 거치며 공공 시설물에서부터 공동주택 프로젝트에 이르기 까지 크고 작은 규모, 다양한 용도의 건축 프로젝트의 경험을 쌓았다. 이를 토대로 도시, 건축, 조경 등 폭넓은 분야에 관심을 갖고 활동 중이다. 그는 대한민국 건축사이다.

Suvin Ju received his Bachelor of Architecture from Ajou University, and Master of Science in Urban Planning at University of Seoul. He has held primary roles on a wide range of projects at See Architects and Gansam Architects & Partners. He joined Simplex Architecture as associate principal in 2021. He is interested in a wide range of field including Architecture, Urban Design, Development, and Construction. He is a registered architect in Korea, and a member of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects.

주수빈은 심플렉스 건축사사무소의 부소장으로 아주대학교에서 건축을 공부하고 서울시립대학교 도시과학대학원에서 도시계획을 공부했으며, 종합건축사사무소 시건축, 간삼건축 종합건축사사무소에서 다수의 프로젝트를 수행하였다. 그는 2021년부터 심플렉스 건축사사무소에 합류하였으며, 건축, 도시, 개발, 시공에 이르기까지 다양한 분야에 관심을 갖고 있다. 그는 대한민국 건축사이다.
